This is absolute BS. It's a damn game. Nobody dies in a video game. This isn't anything new. It just appears to hit home more because it's relavent and still happening.

[citation][nom]wotan31[/nom]Because there are ZERO eighty-five year olds who fought in WWII who are avid computer gamers. On the other hand, the age of many US troops fighting and dying in war today puts them squarely in the video game demographic. If someone had released a Kamikaze board game in 1944 I bet it would have been met with some serious disdain. This is no different. It has nothing to do with "our side" getting killed in a video game. It has everything to do with our side getting killed in a video game, while simultaneously our side is actually getting killed on a real battlefield. I will bet cash money that not one of you commenters making fun of this situation has ever served a day in the armed forces. Think about that.[/citation]

Okay So i am floored that this guy got a negative rating for what he stated.. its the truth i love playing some FPS games but at the same time i dont really agree with the naming of the terrorists they should just call them that. I served in the Army and it does hit home to know my freinds are over there right now and dieing for our freedom they really should think about changing this its not that big of a deal its just good PR... the last person you wanna piss off is Vets

But i will say this i do agree that its a game and its everyones right to choose i will most likely play this game becuase it looks more realistic than COD2. People really need to look at the above mentioned game killing cops is a big negative in my book

I don't care for the media anyways.

they couldn't tell their heads from their asses.
and with some of the crap they spew I can hardly tell either.

[citation][nom]aevm[/nom]This censorship is insane. How can you have player vs. player if you force everybody to play on the same side? You need at least one guy on each side. What do they want, British uniforms instead of Taliban? But that would result in a game where British soldiers and American soldiers shoot each other, for crying out loud...[/citation]
Just because they didn't make a FPS game about the American Revolution doesn't mean they should. So many Americans and British grandfathers, grandmonthers, fathers, mothers, sons, daughter, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, neices, and nephews have been affected by it.

Uh that isn't quite true.I had a friend who was 88 years in age that just passed away a few months back that was an avid flight simulator player (usually WW2 aircraft). He was a bombardier on B-29's during the war. Also have seen 1 Luftwaffe Pilot on A2ASimulations forums and a RAF Pilot there too who are avid flight sim players.

people will complain about anything.this is a very dumb post.
it is a game so get over it and don't buy it if it offends you.
other military games let you play nazis who killed 80% of my KRATZ family bloodline but that dioes not stop me from firing up some WW2 game now and then.
i am playing COD World at war and playing thru the Japanese Pacific fighting levels.
It is a game !!!

Hey jackass, I'm currently serving in the Navy, and I have nothing against this game. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Don't tell me what I can or can't buy.

The producers missed the mark. If they wanted to be really controversial, they should have put a special character on the Taliban side named "Mohammed". Kinda like SWBF2 when you went into Jedi-hero mode.

That's a media battle I would like to see.

they should wait untill the war ends (maybe never 😀). by that time more info and events about certain battles of the war in afghanistan will come out to make a perfect game.

this is just like the movies, most war movies on iraq and afghanistan have'nt been successful maybe because the war is still going?, while Saving Private Ryan was out 50 years after the invasion of normandy.

Rather then focus and point all your attention to Video games, how about going after our Government?

Better yet, as much as I respect and thank our soliders, there is no way in hell I would EVER send my son to Army. We don't fight for freedom we fight for PROFITS.

As a soldier who just returned from Southern Afghanistan earlier this year, I am disgusted by this. And for the first time, offended by a video game.

Judging by the article... even in single player campaigns there shouldn't be friendly fire because you might accidentally drop one of the BOTS that's controlling the CHARACTER MODEL of an ally in the US armed forces.

This makes no sense...why get so upset over the names of pixel sides in a virtual world?

Many games over the years have shown culture vs culture, race vs race and country vs country, why is this any different, yes it is recent and still on going but that statement disrespects those of the past that fought in wars as if they have been forgotten.

A lot of kids these days wouldnt even know about past wars if they didn't play it in a video game, its more interesting to them than learning about it in school, if they even still teach it. I know America rarely teaches anything about world conflict and only teaches about its own country mainly.

People are way too sensative these days and that is what starts wars, well that and religion.

I don't get it. it doesn't exactly sound like a blockbuster setting...

as far as I am aware, the coalition just wander around all day trying hopelessly to pick the insurgents from the identically dressed civilians - and sheep, and trying to spot hidden bombs in their path... basically like lambs to the slaughter, and all the insurgents do is hide said explosives, then stand around all day - amongst the sheep - waiting for someone to come along, to blow up...

now THAT would be a realistic setting... and boring as ****

the only thing i could se this game promoting is terrorism, but the game is no different then other fps such as COD. i can see this game, howhever, braizing an already sore topic.

hand up!!

whos gonna play taliban?

I am a Marine and I see no problem with this game. People are so stupid, they try to protect everyone from everything just because it offends them. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare there were terrorists, also if I recall correctly a whole platoon/company of Marines were killed when a nuke went off. The whole game took place in the middle east. If that doesn't say Taliban/ Al Qaeda I don't what does. If you don't like it don't buy it.
