someone hit my laptop and now it wont load the desktop. its on a bootup screen but wont bootup...help

Someone hit my laptop. Now when it turns on it doesn't display the desktop. It displays a screen that says auto setup utility... I tried a reboot and that wont work..please help. I just started college

That hit must have smashed the head of the HDD. You can try installing the OS again. But I recommend you replace the HDD for reliability. Your current HDD is dead.
