Not sure what your question is exactly, you can just connect other devices to it if it has inputs. If you just want to re-use the speakers, disconnect them and connect them to another amplifier with the same wattage rating as the old one.

The DVD/AV receiver that broke may have amplifiers in it for all 5 speakers AND the subwoofer. Most receivers so don't have the subwoofer amplifier built in so it will be hard to find a replacement. You could but a receiver and self powered sub and just use the satellite speakers. Might be cheaper to just buy a new HTiB (home theater in a box).
