How about we put this geoholt guy and these Anonymous guys in prison for piracy?

Hacking into a system to get free things you normally have to pay for (iPhone apps, things from the playstation store) is illegal no matter how you sugar coat it.

Damn I love what Anonymous do, Sony is one of the stupidest companies I have ever seen, Renting out PS3's to their customers and taking them for court for modifying their system lol

What makes you think that geoholtz or Ano is guilty of Piracy? Geoholtz only unlocked the PS3 for linux features, which were taken out by Sony for no good reason at all. The unlock just happened to also unlock the console to accept unverified bluray disks for game execution.

If ignorance were a crime, you'd get the chair.

"Perhaps you should alert your customers to the fact that they are apparently only renting your products", "Don't do it to someone else if you don't want it to be done to you. "

100% agree with that.

Also to some of you others, saying their just throwing a tantrum. What can you do against sony. Ok then.

Geohotz never enable piracy on the PS3 or iOS. Other people have used his hacks to enable piracy, which is quite different.

I'm glad anonymous is out to look after itself and the internets. It's not like the governments, who are mandated to do so, will actually conserve our freedoms and protect us from from corporate rape/legal fraud.

If Anonymous really cared about free speech they'd target apple who routinely uses sweatshop labor in China to make their products. Those people not only lack free speech but also basic human rights. If Anonymous really was the Batman of the internet they'd do something about Apple. But they aren't.You do realized that almost every company bank and government is criminal and they should attack them all. They do not have the time or resources to do such a thing. Stop being a mouth breathing e-Diot![/citation]
Yeah, I do. But what Apple facilitates is a LOT worse, affects a LOT more people, than what Sony did. Sony got the IP addresses of people who visited the site of the hacker, they're vilifying the hacker (which I disagree with), and they're violating privacy.

What Apple helps to further is the suppression of basic human rights and human decency. People commit suicide because of working conditions at FoxConn, I'd say that trumps the privacy of a few thousand people and the rights of one man.

It's all about the degree of violation.

Also, though I'm not going to say that government computers/networks are definitely more secure than Sony's I will say that they go to enormous lengths to protect against hacking and stuff. Al Qaeda I'm sure has already tried DDoS attacks on the the US. The computers of the US are routinely challenged by the intelligence agencies of China, Iran, and our other enemies.

That would be a resource sink like no other and I don't expect that Anonymous is up to the task of targetting a country. Companies are much better targets. Lower budget.

Apple isnt behind that, Foxconn is, and im fairly certain they did DDOS foxconn before.

I really like these Anonymous people - they have guts and are willing to work towards changing what is wrong in this world. More power to you!

Are you talking about Foxconn? Almost every US computer company uses Foxconn... And just because 10 people committed suicide out of their 800,000+ employees doesn't mean it's slave labor. Nevertheless, Foxconn has been working to improve the working conditions of its employees by giving raises and introducing new programs to boost morale.

Besides, they aren't out to save the world; they're just trying to fight back against a company that they feel is attacking them.

I read this news a couple of days ago, um on daily Tech I think, was no chance of me commenting there, so glad I get to now..

There is only one way to express your unhappiness with a company, Boycott it, don't buy any product or service from it and stick to your guns, get others who are unhappy to do the same...

Problem is most people are just selfish and two faced, they would prefer to moan and bitch or do stupid stuff like write schoolboy messages and post them on the web!

How many Anon members have Sony Products, I wonder!

I do not have any SONY products, and will not Buy any! I own no Apple Products, and will not buy any, I do not Fly Emirates, and will never go anywhere near their SLAVE WORKER country! http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/johann-hari/the-dark-side-of-dubai-1664368.html

Disgusting People!

Shop and spend responsibly and encourage others to do the same!

So, Sony is greedy for protecting their product that they spent multi-million dollars just on R&D ? Sony should just let them free load all the want ?

Its ok that these morons will never understand nor would they cared, cuz most of them are still living in their parent's basement.

[citation][nom]rust1d[/nom]Let me use my PS3, which I paid with MY MONEY, the way I want. I never signed a lease when I got a PS3.[/citation]

You can use it the way its intended to be. not "OMG OH YEAH NOW I CAN BOOTLEGGGGG ALL I WANT"
