As everyone is so keen on the PS3 homebrew scene, can someone tell me what the best 5 homebrew games on PS3 are?

I only ask because, as a PC owner, I don't know. I've never seen any mentioned in the articles criticising Sony's decision, which i find odd...

anonymous are not intelligent by anyone's mark; they are simply a bunch of computer geeks who, weak in real life, have decided to learn a few tricks and donned the cape of 'justice' in an attempt to feel strong in a cyber world.
this will not last for long. how long do you think it will be before powerful people (the ones with REAL intelligence) decide it's enough and turn their attentions to groups like these? they will lobby hard, rules will change, and soon everyone will be losing their right to online privacy.
i resent that this group thinks it can gamble with my rights to privacy in a pathetic attempt to give itself a chuffy.
they are playing with the big dogs now, and we're all going to lose out.

My opinion: the android way is the future of both software and games. If you wish to risk it, if you feel you can do it, you root/unlock/jailbreak/hack your own device. For the rest, people will buy the applications they wish to get rid of adds, or get extra functionality and support. Or they will crack the devices but will shut up when things stop working. The money is good enough to keep developers interested. The prices seem right also. The preview is there the way it should be.
If Google is hearing me, they will take on the console market next. Or maybe it's just the sensible thing to do.
I will be happy if some day Sony gets in the position MS is today and seeing the comet named Google flying right at their face, market share and pockets.

@potatolord

it's linux, if it works on linux then you can get it to work on the ps3.... but the two most popular apps would be a media player/streamer and FTP/NAS server

Why does every idiot out there think that this can only be about games and pirating games. Grow a f'ing brain for once.

Here is a perfect example. I never purchased a PS3 when they were released. (this from a person who purchased a PS2 on the first day) I never purchased a PS3 later. I did not agree with Sony's practices when trying to sell it. Overpriced, stripped down pile of "cutting edge" hardware. Sony bragged about the technological advances of it but what could it really do? Get on their network and purchase only what they want you do have? Being an avid supporter and lover of PC's I do not see a purpose for it especially at their price point.

Only recently did I purchase a PS3 on ebay. I got a fat 60Gb unit. This one allowed PS2 compatibility, Other OS (at the time), memory card slots etc. First thing I did was slap a 320Gb WD Black drive into it and wanted to use it as a HTPC.

It was ok at first but it could have been so much better at being more than a gaming console. Not being allowed to create software for the PS3 hindered using it for more than a lame connection to PSN. Hell...if Sony would have just allowed Software creators to program useful applications for the PS3 and sell them it would have stopped a lot of this crap from the start.

Sony took the Apple road and try to rule with an iron fist. 1st and biggest mistake. In the PS2 days there was modding of the devices everywhere and for the most part Sony sat back and allowed it. For that they sold record amounts of the PS2 and games and made billions, set sale records and never saw the books in the red. Far cry of the history of the PS3.

It's hardware. I purchased it. I have the right to modify it.

It's Sony's stupidity that this thing even got hacked. I watched some of the original conference video of the first hack announcement. Sony screwed up the design and payed for it. From what I remember Sony allowed the master key to be easily found and used.

Taking away Other OS started all of this. All of this was discovered when trying to get Other OS back on the PS3. Sony has themselves to blame.

Sony's recent childlike temper tantrums have really turned me off from them. The PS3 sits used at it's minimum. I have some of my most watched DVD's and BR's copied over to it but that is it. Since we are not allowed to create software for it the dreams of being a working HTPC are gone. Netflix account is used for the kids when they want to watch Barney or Word World or something of the sort. That is about to get canceled because Netflix streaming for movies is total garbage. Games....barely have even played them. A little GTA but never finished it...got boring. A couple of others here and there but were sent back to Gamefly in the same week. Working on GT5 right now but about to send it back and cancel Gamefly because I would rather play games on the PC. There is not the same appeal that the PS2 had. Something was lost in the translation to PS3.

The ideas that I had stemming from the PS3 hack had nothing to do with pirating games. The games suck. I wanted to use it for something it could have been. Sony ruined that and IMHO is ruining themselves. There will be no PS4 in my future. I will be building a proper HTPC and use that purchased hardware the way I see fit for me. I will use a PC for games because honestly, there is no comparison for a console. No matter the outcome in the courts. Sony is going to lose in the end.

to zaperbaby123: The PS3 was always intended to be a gaming console first with a blu-ray player. I am sure that it was not envisioned by Sony that people would find a way to STEAL content, CHEAT at online games on PSN, or REDIRECT online gaming to outside servers. But, because people decided to hack the system to STEAL, CHEAT, and DISRUPT the user experience, Sony removed features that allowed this systemic activity to occur.

If the hackers had only been able to control themselves, then this whole mess wouldn't be an issue. Put blame where it belongs, on the hacker community and their narcissistic belief that it's OK to STEAL, CHEAT, and DISRUPT honest, hard working people.

They can make it so tough on Sony that the Playstation dies and the real losers are the consumers, and the hackers who have a CHOICE of consoles and features they like best.

It's not about the hacking, or corporate geed, it's about the STEALING, CHEATING, and DISRUPTION that is at issue. The hackers got greedy, which hurts everyone, and now they are crying because they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

I am old fashion, and the customer isn't always right!!! Would you want to fly on a plane if a paying passenger with two broken legs wants to sit next to the emergency exit? Would you be willing to put your life in that passenger's hand because the customer is always right?

I wouldn't be surprised if those anon morons used this laptop I'm working on to do some of the DDoS assault today. Thanks for the free money guys, people pay me to fix this stuff HAHA.

twas merely an easy way to get arrested and put on the list as sexual predators anyway. I used to look at it from time to time, obviously loaded with authorities. always the same girl posting and such. lol.

@Keep it Honest

if only those darn idiots who speed @60mph in a 30 mph zone we still be able to drive around in cars.......

We should care more about sexual health. CDC reports that Over 70 million people are living with STDs in the U.S. and the members on the largest STD support site STDdatings .com has already reached 600,000+ . If you're living with one kind of STDs, may try it out and find someone understand you.

The comment made from this person, not wanting to quote it for, you know, perpetuating spam, but this comment is a perfect example of spam getting smarter, and wasting all readers' attention to dismiss it. Spam can't be fought by moderators alone, and AI would do little or nothing against it. That's why we need community teaming up. Spammers target Tom's because it's popular. Tom's readers can help fighting spam into oblivion very quickly if the system is implemented properly.

Ah! Thanks for the insult, it's really helpful!

I genuinely didn't know you could do any of these things with a PS3. I asked as articles I've seen in the past have always mentioned the homebrew games scene, but never listed any games for it. Hence my question.

Lots of love. X

I say Screw SONY, i am a massive fan of the PS3 and im really pissed of i cant play COD lol.

But as mentioned a million times. we bought the PS3 its up to us to do what we like with it. dont punish us for that.

and now such a BIG company like SONY are being attacked by some normal everyday people (i assume). shows how BIG they are when they dont even have security to deal with these issues.

DROP THE CHARGES SONY OR PAY THE PRICE
