[citation][nom]JamesSneed[/nom]I say to all those that are pissed come back to PC gaming. I agree with Sony on this one. They have sold many consoles at a loss with the expectation of selling games to recoup the costs. Also they are only forbidding using these systems on their network, you own the hardware do what you want, just don't connect to PSN. Seems completely fair if you hack the hardware, don't support them by using pirated games, they should not have to endure the added expense of you using their network/server resources.[/citation]
*cough* Linux removed *cough*
I was one of those people who actually played with YDL on the launch-60 when I had one. Hooked it up to a 52" LCD TV at the time. Keyboard + mouse hooked up. My kids photos ran as a slide show. We enjoyed it. My photo's of my 2-year old were on the PS3 at the time.
Having been burned by firmware upgrades that remove a feature that was present during purchase, it occurred to me to check on what Sony was doing during each upgrade. I'm glad I did. I got the photos off the PS3, so I have them...
I did the firmware upgrade anyway, kinda knowing what to expect. Sure enough... no more Linux. The keyboard and mouse were now useless, as well as the binder with "how to" items within it I had printed, trying to learn YDL on the PS3. Kind of a hobby. The usual argument exists here: It was there when I bought it.
So, go ahead and agree with Sony... I think you will find it much harder to agree with them if you are made into a "victim" like this.
