Sony Vaio Laptop Gets No Power After DC Jack Replaced

I have a Sony Vaio F Series that was having issues charging because the DC Jack was loose, making me hold the cord just right to charge it. Eventually it stopped charging at all, so I replaced the DC Jack but when I plugged it back up there was no power and the oem power adapter was beeping. I had hoped that the old DC Jack had just messed up the adapter, so I got an igo universal adapter but when I plugged it in the light turned off and it didn't charge the laptop either (the adapter does work in other laptops). I was wondering if anyone new what was likely causing this to happen.

Hi, I think you have short the pins for the jack, disassemble again and look for a solder bridge between the pins for the jack.

I actually got it working this afternoon and you were basically right. The new DC Jack wasn't quite the same and there was exposed metal where the original bracket held the jack in place. I'll have to cut the bracket later to make it hold the jack properly but for now I just bent the side of the bracket up so it didn't touch the side of the bracket.
