Hello everyone,
A friend of mine gave me his Vaio sve151d11m to format it because it was vary slow and had a bunch of viruses and a lot of browser malware on it. When I power the laptop it can take up to 10 min to display the bios screen. I tried to reset (format) it to default settings but the problem remained and got worse while the system reset had to restart during windows installations. After many attempts of not booting at all I I tried changing the cmos battery and now it got a little better but the problem still persists while the format progresses. Has anyone seen this again? Taking 5-10 minutes to show the bios screen?

Thanks

is either a motherboard problem or a cpu problem as I have a customer whose son's tower takes upwards of a day from turning on the tower till it loads windows.

Thanks for the reply , I also think it is the motherboard. Do you think applying heat with a heatgun on the chipset will solve the problem at least temporarily?

Reflowing it may help. The problem could be related to the BIOS or EC chip, however.

don't think reflow will do any good as you could blow some components off their locations once the solder flows. I've worked on motherboards, daughter cards & cell phones when working for Celestica doing board repairs & oven accidents with the cell phone boards.
