Sony VAIO not starting

I can only sometimes start my Sony VAIO by pressing power button and then repeatedly pressing the VAIO button when yellow start indicator light is present.

Is this with or without the power adapter plugged in? Try this, remove the battery, plug the AC adapter in and then try turning it on. Any change?
