Sony xbr-75x850d Netflix no audio out arc

I stream using Apple TV, have a DVD player and another streaming divice playing all audio using a Yamaha receiver for massive surround sound. I have to use Apple TV steaming Netflix to hear the audio through external speakers. The Sony TV playing the internal Netflix app won't sent the sound out via ARC. I've seen many similar comments but none with a solution. I have optical audio cables as well but found they didn't resolve anything so I just use HDMI for everything.. suggestions?
Also, after about a year the tv began turning on with my Harmony hub which chooses all the correct inputs and outputs etc. the sound will come on correctly and then switch back to internal speakers forcing me to pick up the Sony remote and switch manually back to external.

Does the TV output audio from other internal apps?
If it does then try changing the audio out type in the Netflix app.
If it doesn't then try changing the audio out type in the TV menu.
Some TVs won't output audio from the apps. Stupid but true.
As to your other problem you can try turning off CEC in the TV menu.
