The new Zenith 5th generation receivers saved the day for 8-VSB.
Broadcasters would not have given in otherwise. COFDM still was part of
the deal DVB-H is also a co-standard for mobile broadcasting. It will be
interesting to see how much spectrum is allocated to DVB-H and how it is
used or limited. DVB-H is basically DVB-T with some extra options but it
is also still DVB-T.

So you will have to buy two different receivers in S. Korea, one for
mobile and one for fixed reception. What kind of sense does that make
when one, DVB-T does better at both. Purely political.

Maybe they have a hidden agenda, if all DTV receivers sold in
South Korea are dual mode (ATSC and DVB) from day 1 and if market
forces show DVB serves consumers better, ATSC broadcasts can be
easily phased out without causing much of a disruption.

No Bob, you won't have to buy different receivers ... one will
easily do both. DVB-T is NOT better at fixed reception, it STILL
takes two to three times the transmitter power.

If this is the case I see Zenith giving away Hover vacuums. ;-)

Seriously, I see ATSC for in-home HD and DVB for mobile digital radio that
puts DAB to shame :)
