Hi, I'm looking to buy a nice pair of floor standing speakers and I've narrowed my searches down to two different models of Klipsches

http://www.klipsch.com/rf-82-ii-floorstanding-speaker

and

http://www.klipsch.com/rf-62-ii-floorstanding-speaker

differences between the two? Besides the price....

what would you get?

Also, have any good recommendations for a receiver for these? I'm looking for something with digital+analog inputs and that has a/v capabilities

I was looking at http://www.amazon.com/Harman-Kardon-HK-3490-Receiver/dp/B00198F89A but it lacks quite a bit of functionality compared to the pioneer a/v receivers I was looking at

or if you think going the way of tubes is better but I don't have the budget for that...

my budget is about $1800 total which needs to account for taxes + shipping

The difference in the speakers is that 82 II's will have better bass. Otherwise they are very similar.

Have you actually heard these speakers? The thing to do is to audition them with the receiver you plan on buying and listening to them to see if you like the sound.

I recommend going to a new/used audio store if you have one in town. That way you can listening to a bunch of difference speakers and receive combinations.

Happy listening,

the Prisoner

Yes, Prisoner is right. only diff is the low end, but if this is going to be a starter system for HT and audio consider purchasing even smaller speakers using stands and sinking more money in to the receiver. The receiver will make more of a difference in the overall acurate response of the sound and later when you have the funds upgrade to a nice sub. Also consider purchasing a receiver that has pre-amp outs that will allow you to use an out board stand alone amp. This is the way I have built my system. Good Luck!
