Speaker Wire Connections

When connecting to either 'screw' or 'spring' connections is bare wire the only way to go or are there plugs that can be added to the ends of the speaker cables in the same way as banana plugs or spade terminals are used?
Just trying to get the best connection.

yes there are ones that will attach just like the banana plug but have a thin wire extending from the end rather than a plug. cant say to what decimal the sound will differ due to this.
