I have an 80's era Technics stereo. Can I hook new speakers into it and what would be a good choice. Not alot of cash, maybe a couple of hundred dollars. Plus is it hard to clean the volume dial, I have major static.

All I can tell you is the amp is a SU-V16 and the tuner is a ST-S16.

That integrated amp has 30 watt x 2 into an 8 ohm speaker. Some specs are given for 4 ohms speakers so 4 or 6 ohms speakers would probably work too.

To clean the volume control the first thing to try is, with the unit off, rotate the control 25-30 times. Sometimes this will help.
