Question Spotlight search does not display results

I have been experiencing this issue on my iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 12.3.1 (and versions all the way back to iOS 12.1) where spotlight search is either extremely slow to produce a result, or does not display anything at all. Wondering if there is anything I can do to resolve this without a complete restore.

In settings - spotlight search you can activate/deactivate applications to be found
