Standby function of Sony Vaio VGN-TZ17GN/N

Hello,

I've got this Sony Vaio. The power off options include Standby, hibernation, Turn Off and Restart. But the first two are grayed out. What can I do to activate them?

Check your power options. Also check the BIOS for suspend options that might be off.

thanks. could you please guide me to the settings of Bios?

Also, could you please tell me where I can find the proper video file for my Sony Vaio VGN-TZ17GN/N? I found one online but it seems this is not the ideal one for the computer because now only 3/4 of the monitor showing the desktop.
