steam downloads!!! why you no work?

so, i was downloading saints row 4 when i decided to go to bed, so i paused the download and closed steam (which im pretty sure doesn't ever do anything bad) and the next morning i checked it and it said "install saints row 4" i was like what??? so i clicked install and it ran me through the install process from the begging again, acting as if it hadn't downloaded it before. any help?

also the download was at like 70% and the shut down that night was a flick of the power switch one, but i didn't think anything of it

Right-click the game and go into the properties. Do an integrity check. It sounds like it needs to finish downloading or the download got corrupted.

i did the check but all it did was tell me that "all files successfully validated" is that the end of that? or should something happen

If it validated ok, then all necessary files should be intact. I'm not sure why it didn't just resume your download though.
