I am thinking of purchasing the Steelseries 5hv2 and have had my mind set on buying them for a while. However I noticed in order to have virtual 7.1 sound coming from them you have to buy the USb version, because it comes with a USB soundcard with 7.1 virtual built in.
So, if I were to buy the regular one, I would then have to buy the soundcard to go with it from steelseries in order for it to be 7.1. HOWEVER considering the price of the soundcard, I was wondering if it was possible to buy a soundcard with 7.1 virtual not from steelseries and still have the 7.1 surround sound for less?
If this is possible, can anyone reccommend me a device to do this with? Is there anything else I need to buy? I'm assuming I'd still need to install the drivers from steelseries website for the 5hv2 even if I wasn't using their USB cord which you buy with it?
