Can anybody help me find a nice set of headphone $65 or less I'm using an x-fi titanium (non HD or fatality or anything).

I got my eye on the JVC RX700 & RX900 and the Audio Technica ATH-M30 & M35

I'm looking for something that will be able to play nice with the Dolby headphone feature on the x-fi so I can get some semblance of surround sound in game, but still be decent in music.

I say decent because I'm no audiophile, and I don't really care if the sound is so clear that you can make out what kinda pick the guys is using on his guitar, it has just to not be god awful.

With the exception of a few j-pop songs that I got hooked on watching anime, 99% of my listening is hip hop with the rare R&B song.

Can anybody suggest a set that meets the listed requirements?

ive tested the rx700 and and the m35 and would say audio technica has the edge (wider soundstage and more precise)

their low / midrange models have been doin work. wish they'd release some new hi-fi cans soon

i fell in love with their ATH-M50 and realized how overhyped 'gaming' models were. never looked back lol. solid stereo ftw

so yeah i'd go with the m35 or the m30. happy gaming :)

I was willing to look outside of my budget at first and get the M-50s that you mentioned. However I've heard they do not have any sound stage at all and do a terrible job with surround.

Is that true because if its not I will get those if it is I will take your suggestion and get the 35s. Also I got nothing against gaming headsets, if I can find one that is DECENT (again i don't care about hifi) in regular music i'll look at those.

I'm getting the feeling that when people say gaming headset are bad they are saying it as an audiophile as opposed to a regular person like me. I mean if they can beat the lil $8 Sony headphones that you can pick up at walgreens then i'm cool with that.
