Beyond that, porn apps would without a doubt increase unintended exposure to pornography. I also see it as degrading to the family values that Apple maintains with it's App Store.

So did Steve Jobs, and since it is his company, his phone, and his app store, he can do what he wants. There are people who will agree and disagree with him - you don't have to support the company. I stand behind it and say props to him - you don't, that's cool. To that, he said go buy the Android.
I only post to say I think there is legitimate reasoning and since Apple is only a gateway to the internet, and not the internet itself, everyone's points about censorship are - in my opinion - irrelevant. Apple has nowhere near a monopoly and I applaud someone who believes in something and stands up for it, even if it is unpopular or costs the company money.
Personally I'd like to see our society return to a greater respect for sexuality and women. Not the victorian era, but certainly not today where women are made into sex objects to be lusted after. Every women is someone's daughter.

First I've got to say that everybody who has responded to this article so far is pretty much an idiot, especially the ones harping on the "and" instead of "an" typo. Steve Jobs is charismatic and knows how speak, and no I am not an apple fanboy here, and it is doubtful that he said that. It is most likely just a simple typo by the author of this article.
The second reason everyone so far is an idiot is that nobody is stopping from putting porn on your iphone you are just not being allowed to buy it from apple. The iphone/itouch/ipad are still media players and itunes will still convert a pornographic movie to be playable on all these devices. And guess what, none of these devices know, or even care about, what the movie is or it's rating unless you tell it to. So buy and download all the porn you want and have itunes covert it and watch it on your iphone and shut the hell up and stop whining about stuff before you go become informed.
To the guy who says God doesn't exist, you're the biggest idiot of all so it much suck hating yourself. However you are entitled to you opinion and I will respect even though I don't share it. Just like I respect Jobs' decision, and you should too, to not allow port apps because it's his choice. By the way it's the young, LIBERAL idiots that don't know how to think for themselves that buy into the whole apple/iphone crap. I'm not here to get into a political debate but if you pole the apple buying public the overwhelming majority will be liberal simply due to the age bracket.
Now I have no problem admitting that I watch porn but I don't think I'll watch it on any device more mobile than my laptop; and then only in the privacy of my room or, if I'm traveling, my hotel room.
Lastly porn is a very profitable industry but I wouldn't want it in any app store that I would be shopping in. Not because I object to it but because of what has happened to the internet, there are more porn sites than any other type of site. If an app store allowed porn apps it would quickly turn into the problem of there being more porn apps than anything else and it would be even harder to find what you are looking for.

We are an animal life form, just as all the other life forms on this planet.
