Good evening.

I have an Asus UX52VS Intel i7 3537u laptop with 2gb ram on-board, i am trying to upgrade at least 2 or 4gb more as it lags randomly when navigating between pages, I tried to install Samsung ddr3l 1600mhz cl11 1.35v 4gb kit but it wont boot with it, i tried few others and the same story, so i think there must be specific memory upgrade for this model, would you guys help me finding the correct memory 2gb or 4gb kit. so far i see only crucial has for this and i think its expensive as 4gb for 61 euros+ shipping,, would be great if some other brand can fix in it..

Thanks

Apart from, I would have thought the motherboard would be the same between i7 and i5 models (only difference being CPU and amount of memory used), I can't comment any further about the motherboard(s) used.

As mentioned earlier there may be a limitation on allowable memory configurations by the BIOS, even though the memory controller is capable of addressing up to 8 GB per memory slot.

From various sources, it is understood that the laptop comes with ONE memory module permanently installed and with ONE spare memory slot for expansion(?) The spare memory slot should be capable of taking up to 8 GB memory capacity.

Here are some results of memory searches, which provide compatible memory for this notebook -

In theory (according to the capability of the CPU memory controller), most SODIMM's should be supported. However, there may be limitations imposed by BIOS as to what memory configurations are allowed.

Using latest BIOS? If not, upgrade to latest BIOS if possible and try memory again.

Good Day.

Its a replacement motherboard. and they sent it with latest bios, but one thing i am not sure about that why is this motherboard has an i7 3537u but only 2gb on ram onboard, on internet i see all models with i7 processor has 4gb ram, 2gb comes only with i5 variants,. Is it possible they have soldered i7 processor onto an i5 board?

Good Day!

I have ordered transcend 4gb stick as it would be enough to combine with 2gb on-board then 6gb in total for normal home use laptop, i have provided a link to the stick i bought, it is the same what you have advised, i hope it work,

https://www.megekko.nl/product/0/797021/Transcend-Transcend-4GB-DDR3-1600?r=googleshopping&gclid=Cj0KEQjwt6fHBRDtm9O8xPPHq4gBEiQAdxotvBa-NHMm-wNrsLhGgqAfG6QtfFHLv9Fkmoit4OfNh_caAr-R8P8HAQ

Most of the memory for ux52vs is supported for ux51vz so are these 2 model shares the same upgrade memory specifications or is there any difference? If the ram did not worked then what would you make of this, does it mean motherboard has a problem or shall i try different one,

Thanks

The Transcend 4 GB module part number TS512MSK64V6H is definitely compatible, as it has been tested by Transcend themselves.

Regarding the UX51VZ, it appears that it supports most of the memory that the UX52VS supports. But there is a slight difference in chipsets used and also in CPU's used. For this reason, some memory supported by the UX51VZ may not necessarily be compatible with the UX52VS. To be safe, use only memory that has been tested for compatibility specifically for the UX52VS.

If by chance the ordered Transcend memory module doesn't work, then there are several possibilities -

1) The memory slot may be faulty

2) The Transcend memory module may be faulty

3) The Transcend memory module may not be (fully) compatible with the existing 2 GB memory module due to variances in memory module characteristics

4) or any combination of the above three possibilities

In the event the Transcend memory module doesn't seem to work, then try this module in another (compatible) computer to verify that the module works.

If the Transcend module works in another (compatible) computer, then the UX52VS either might have a faulty memory slot, or the Transcend module may not be (fully) compatible with the existing 2 GB module. In this case try another compatible memory module and see what happens.

If the Transcend module doesn't work in another (compatible) computer, then the Transcend module is probably faulty and should be replaced.

Good Day!

It just not worked, It is not booting with transcend memory i bought as mentioned above and as you advised, SO.

The laptop would work fine with its 2gb on board ram,
if i insert the transcend ram and power on, it starts but no boot no screen only fan and power light on,

Is the slot defect? this is a 2nd hand motherboard from china, i can see the connectors of ram slot re soldered as the slot is replaced.

already paid 180 euro on motherboard, 35 on ram stick, shall i send it back? or try another ram, sending would cost me 32 euros again..

Got into shit, was best to throw the laptop in garbage instead to buying motherboard.

Sorry to know that the Transcend memory doesn't seem to work! But as tested by Transcend, that memory module is compatible with the laptop.

As mentioned previously . . "In the event the Transcend memory module doesn't seem to work, then try this module in another (compatible) computer to verify that the module works.

" . .

Can you try this?

Hi,
Sorry for delay response, It was a bit difficult for me to test different memory kits as it is not normal dimms which are easy to find around, and i must buy a new stick every time i check so i thought it would be best to send it back for replacement, i have already sent the motherboard back to china as the seller was agree to test it and if defect then they will repair it or replace it.

i will post again once i hear from them if was the slot or something else problematic.

thanks
