[citation][nom]cyberkuberiah[/nom]u sound deluded like nazi's were about their so called 'Aryan' race .[/citation]
I'd get this paranoid too living in grandma's basement.

[citation][nom]Steven Bancroft[/nom]This is why I waited for iPhone 3G. No defense. [/citation]
You should not have had to wait. Even non-smartphones were 3G enabled when the iPhone came out.
[citation][nom]Steven Bancroft[/nom]MMS is live. [/citation]
You are missing the point. It should have been live when the phone was first available.Would you purchase a car without a feature that was standard on every car on the road, even those that predate the new cars. Like…turn signals.
[citation][nom]Steven Bancroft[/nom]Forwarding is live. [/citation]
See above.
[citation][nom]Steven Bancroft[/nom]Iphone 3GS has a great camera[/citation]
Adequate was the word used. So as far as adequate cameras, it was a good, adequate camera. Not a good camera. Think about it.
[citation][nom]Steven Bancroft[/nom]multitasking doesnt mean its not a smartphone. Some native apps do run in the background. [/citation]
Yes it does. That is what makes it a smartphone. Some and Native are keywords here, even standard cell phones have native apps that run in the background.
[citation][nom]Steven Bancroft[/nom]Jailbreaking and using Backgrounder solves this issue and many others. [/citation]
You should not have to hack your phone or have to get an app to enable a feature that is makes smartphones what they are. Doing that makes it a feature of the app, not the phone.

Seriously opinion is different then fact. To you that's what smart phone means... and multitasking IS a software feature not a hardware feature, apple chose to disable it in order for the focus app to have better performance.

The phone is not for everyone... don't buy it, no one cares.

I dunno this shit cracks me up, people don't like it yet they talk about it and complain about it sooo much.

I don't like winmo so I just don't buy it. I like the iPhone's OS and Droid and I'd consider buying it. Not everyone wants the same thing in a phone, just get over it. Some people want to stick emulators on their phone while some simply use it to communicate and any extra feature that is simple and reliable is just a plus.

Everything has it's purpose the way you choose is by spending money on it or not, stop bitching... =\

> The phone cannot send MMS: There is no need to send MMSs,
> hardly anybody sends MMSs.

Huh? Exactly where do you see huge numbers of people saying anything like that????

Didn't you see the COUNTLESS people screaming for MMS and cut-paste????
(My iphone has had both those features since the day I bought it.)

> There is money to be made by developing applications for the iPhone

Our company made about $45,000. How can that be a 'myth'????

How can that be a 'myth'??? MILLIONS of new customers were gained.

I would have NEVER have switch carriers... if it wasn't for the iphone.

The iphone can *DEFINITELY* multitask. Since 2007.

A "great number" of apps are *UNUSABLE*???? Why? I still use them anyway.

The reason iphone is superior (haha) is because it runs linux. Sadly in retail form it's legs are tied but thats nothing that a capable user can't fix. Jailbreak and suddenly you have a linux pc in your pocket. Something only a few of you would appreciate. Windows mobile is buggy and slow. have any of you used a touch diamond? even with touchflo turned off it's atrocious.

its not surprising i mean im pretty sure this isnt the most accurate of all tests but tell any mac fanboy that macs suck and pc's own they will will go apeshit because they spent so much money on it they will do anything to convince themselves and others around them that it was worth it. MAC OSX is so similar to windows its basically a different layout with shit ton less programs and less features. no wonder its more stable cuzs the only shit you CAN install is from people that made the software to begin with.

While there is no 'agreed on definition' for "smartphone," you would at least think that the definition evolves with the platform. If one Smartphone multitasks, then the next generation of smartphones should multitask, etc. I'd say the exception to this is form-factor and input method; i.e. not all phones have to be touchscreen to be smartphones, nor do they have to have physical keyboards. I think "smartphone" is definied BY the software, which would include EVERYTHING a non-smartphone can do and more.

It's in this that the iPhone's being called into question. Most if not all non-smartphones can do things like MMS out-of-the-box. Most of all actual smartphones can run multiple applications at one time. Blackberry, WinMo and PalmOS have been doing it for years, Android did it in it's first generation. When the iPhoneOS did not, it surprised a lot of people expecting this to be the "next generation" of "smartphone," and instead what they got was a smartphone for the "masses."

In this the iPhone succeeds like no other; appealing to people's perception of what a smartphone should be without actually behaving like the tradtionally accepted model of those who have already been using them.

That's Apple's speciality and always has been. Look to the iMac, the iPod, etc. etc. They are all devices that appeal to people's perceptions of what they believe they should be able to accomplish with a specific device, and omitting most of what they don't know they're missing.

Gotta say some iPhone users are delusional but some got in despite the shortcomings because at it's core it's still a phone and after using a htc diamond I'll take it any day over wimo

[citation][nom]janice6[/nom]> There is money to be made by developing applications for the iPhone Our company made about $45,000. How can that be a 'myth'????[/citation]LOL so you tell a fact and they vote your post down. Ignorance = bliss on tomshardware news comments... the community here kinda blows. Try Gizmodo.com it's a bit more of a well rounded bunch, not just windows fanboys.

hmmm.. judging apple, their products are always 80% from perfect. Considering the iphone has created a wave of touch screen mart phones from LG samsung et all, and the functionality made windows mobile to step up the game as well as birthing android. Considering Palm, Blackberry, windows really didn't "shine" until they became iphone alternatives. Now if the iphone had a great camera, multitask, used on any network, customizable, replaceable battery, fm tuner, and slide out qwerty keyboard, then the iphone will just dominate and obliterate as well as monopolize the entire phone market.. Be thankful for its flaws

I just glanced through this, but I guess this is a joke and not meant to be taken seriously? Seriously owners of ANY electronic device are delusional. They'll brag about its features and find excuses for its faults, whether it's an iPhone, Blackberry, 360, Wii, PS3, HDTV, PC, Mac, AMD, Intel, Nvidia, ATI... anything. Of course if you spend hundreds of dollars on something, you're going to try to justify your purchase.
