Sub to receiver through Coax cable

I was told that using a coax cable would work as long as i had an RCA adapter going into the sub and then an adapter going from the other end into the RCA plugs for the sub woofer. All units are brand new, so it shouldnt be the unit itself being the problem.

ex.

wall -> coax -> rca adapter -> sub-woofer (both R & L) -> through the ceiling - > wall 2 (coax) -> RCA adapter -> L & R on the receiver where the RCA jacks come in usually.

I went through set up on all units. I have one receiver (TXNR 545) with this set up along with 4 other speakers, then i have a second receiver (TXSR 333) connecting 4 speakers and another sub-woofer. Ive tried on both systems to get it working, but to no avail. Please help

Coax is not designed to handle audio frequencies, but it should work. Have you tested with an ohm meter to verity that you have continuity on both the center conductor and the shield?

I've been told that both cables have been tested before i started on the projects; however, you never know. Right now i feel like the adapters are in the wrong spot. The inputs are next to the subwoofer input, this is the spot where i have the exact same receiver operating a different subwoofer at another clients' house, so i didnt know whether it needed to be configured differently or not. I didnt just do a single male connection, i did one that splits out from coax to a Y adapter of L&R RCA premium jacks.

The client that wants this configuration apparently had it working with this set up with his old receiver; however, i wasnt present when that happened, nor did i get to see how it was put together because he had already taken it apart.
