I hooked up two large speakers and a subwoofer up to a new stereo in my room. The two speakers work great but the sub just won't play. It's a sonic blue HT2015 subwoofer. Impedance-8ohms. It has the two wires but my stereo's "subwoofer" plug spot is for like a plug. So i found an adapter and used that but it still won't work. Any help? I know it works forsure.
The receiver is a Pioneer VXS-40 ELITE.

Yes.. I'm afraid that subwoofer port on your reciever does not work with passive subs, it needs to be active one so you'll need aditional amp to make it work, but that may be to expensive.

It's cheaper to get active subwoofer.

I've searched the manual and remote and the receiver it self and haven't found any matrix or music mode. Maybe I'm missing something, but any other ideas?

On your reciever would be in Surround mode. You have auto surround.. advanced surround. You need to play there.

If you want to check is your connection proper just plug subwoofer to left or right front speaker connector.

But you need to setup surround to get 2.1 sound.

I have set to every option, advance surround, direct, auto surround, ect...
Sorry to be such a pain but nothing is working. My large speakers have built in subs but they aren't very good. Is that effecting anything?

I'm using just regular speaker wire coming straight from the sub itself and then I wired it to another speaker wire because it wasnt Long enough. The extension has the 8mm headphone like plug at the end which fits into the subwoofer slot in the back of the receiver.

That last picture was the one that is very similar to mine

It does not have a wall plug. But I have hooked it up to a speaker slot and it worked but very quiet and uselessly.
