Switching power on and off repeatedly

I wish to signal an Android phone by pulsing the power on and off quickly, something like Morse code. As the battery will be connected, this would not cause the phone to shut down. My client software will be able to detect these pulses, count them and understand them as commands.
My question is, will this mode of operation harm the phone, or the battery in any way?

The pulses can be faster than it will take for the battery to detect disconnection from the power, so it may not even 'notice' that this pulsing is happening.

Also, this switching will not occur continuously, rather once an hour, or so.

To pass on commands without the use of BT, WiFi, or any other conventional method.
