Symantec Anti-Virus Help

I opened the program to see what was wrong because it said it was disabled and it said the problem was that it had to update. So i updated it and the network and antivirus/antispyware were fixed and turned back on. However it said that the proactive threats definitions had to be updated so i did. Multiple times. And it still has the same problem. It wont turn on and it keeps saying i have to update. I would like a response ASAP

Uninstall then reinstall it.
