T430s or T440p in 2017?

Is the Lenovo T430s a better choice in 2017? Can either work with an eGPU?

I don't have any specific ones in mind barring that the screen should be HD+/FHD and that, I can use an eGPU with it later on? If am looking for 'general' specs that include a 128/256 SSD, 4/8 GB RAM and in relatively good condition. I am not looking to buy a new one but a refurbished one instead of a 'used' condition one. Any adv/views would be welcome!

HI there...

I am considering purchasing a used/refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad - T430/s or T440/s/p - and am not sure what config, model or price range I should be looking at? I've spent a considerable amount of time trying the research this subject but now, am more confused than ever!

I'm based in Italy so, looking at machines that are available in the European region. Even though they are cheaper on newegg.com in the US markeplace importing them adds another $100 to the cost thereby negating the purpose. I would prefer one with a QWERTY keyboard but then I don't mind the Italian keyboard layout either. I'm not sure I can adapt as easily to a German layout though as the 'Y' key is placed at the bottom..

I have assumed a budget of 300-400 Euros ($350-450) so that, I can use some of the savings to go in for an eGPU. I am also keen on doing some light gaming/MMOG titles such as Total War Rome, CoH, Heroes & generals in low-mid settings and so, am not sure if I can factor in an eGPU with some of the savings? The T430 and 440 have PCi Express card slots from what I've read but not sure if they can utilise the full potential of the eGPU?

Any advice would be welcome!

The t430s seems like a basic usage 14 inch laptop with HD - HD+ screens. The cpu i3 - i7 3rd gen so it can be used for some process intensive tasks if you need it. memory is capped at 16 gigs. This is in comparison to the t440p which can have a fhd, a gt 730m if some gpu power is needed and supports 4 gen cpus which should be more power efficient. I would get the t440p for the reasons I have stated.

If you want to play games then the T440p would be better because it has a nVidia 730m. No, these laptops cannot connect to an eGPU. They lack a Thunderbolt port which only recently been included in some of the higher end laptops ($800+).
