Word is that T7 is dead and not returning. I cannot verify
this on the Intelsat site, but it appears to be true. There
are no signals coming from the T7 location.

Most if not all of the T7 C-Band channels are migrating to
IA-13 at 121.0°W.

For 4DTV owners:
The IPG people have been notified of the siuation and mapping
info is being sent to them as it becomes available. I don't know
when they will be in the office and don't know when or if the
channels will be mapped to the new location(s).

If T7 is programmed to the IA-13 position it will receive some of the
digital channels it was receiving at the T7 location. The B-Mania
channel and all of the channels in that MUX have moved to a different
frequency and hopefully will be redefined with the correct info soon.

The Telstar Family of birds is not having very good luck. T4 still has not
been replaced and now T7. My memory is short, but I think there was another
telstar bird that failed in the mid 90's. Two of them were power supply buss
failures. They have not announced the cause of this failure yet. Probably
another buss failure.

Probably Telstar 401,which was a home spot may TVRO dishes were
pointed at.

Could you imagine how hectic the satellite broadcast world would be if
T5 and T6 died at the same time? (Or maybe even just one, like T5.)

IA-8 launches in mid December. It will occupy the 89
degree slot which was abandoned by T4
