Solved! Tablet - MX player - hdmi cable - tv SETUP

I have an oldish Acer A100 connected to tv via hdmi cable and watching movies. I would like to turn off the screen on the tablet to save battery instead of both displaying simultaneously. Is there a way to do that on mx? Is there any other player app that does?

I think the tablet itself will pause the program if you shut off the screen. You can check the power options and set the screen time out to some low number and see if it will go dark even though the video is playing.
