[citation][nom]smokinu[/nom]You Tool. You have got to be joking or bored. Stop trying to stir up trouble with lame post. It is not like Tom's is a porn site that just so happens to have tech related articles. Actually I think I know why this bothers you so much. Your a fatty arent you? Thats cool I dont mind a fatty, I mean everyone needs lovin but you may get more if you liked yourself better and not try to belittle others to make you feel better about your back side.[/citation]
First of all--I hope you aren't talking to me and instead meant to post this in reply to user1495343. Second of all, user1495343 wasn't stirring up trouble or being rude or belittling anyone. This person was just voicing an opinion and that's the point of a forum. Third of all, you were more rude in your comment than user1495343.

The "best prices" are NOT. There are lower prices by just clicking on "more deals."

Re: the Samson BluRay review: I'll point out that I just picked up the Samsung BDP-1600, which also streams NetFlix, BlockBuster(if anyone cares) and Pandora, and also does YouTube. Not WiFi but I didn't care as I use a game-extender wireless hub to provide connectivity for my A/V setup (Tivo, Samsung WIFI capable HDTV, etc.) $179 on Amazon. And I got $30 off with my Amazon Visa card. So, $149. Fast load times, great picture. It streams NetFlix in better quality than my TivoHD, actually.

Smokinu: You really think the person you are commenting about was trying to stir up trouble? I'm not sure if you are, but I'd much quicker jump to the assumption that you are before I'd do the same of User1495343.

The only thing that could possibly be considered belittling was asking if Tom's wasn't a good enough site to have it's content speak for itself without the aid of pictures of unrelated women. If anything, this is just furthering his/her point and defending women in general from being belittled.

You, smokinu, on the other hand: called User1495343 a tool, then you went on to make an un-based accusation of him/her trying to stir up trouble. Then you proceeded in a belittling and poorly based (again) way to create a reason for why you think they said what they said. Then you think you were actually giving a compliment? I'm astounded.

User1495343: I respect your opinion about not needing pictures of women to advertise products. I would also prefer products selling themselves on merit rather than trying stimulate some base human-male drive and sell based the powerful subconscious associative properties that come with this type of advertising (not referring to this article so much as generally using women to sell products to men). I do, however, disagree when you called these women half-dressed. By today's western-culture standards, this was a very tame set of models who were presented in a tasteful manner.

Since most music is still recorded in stereo, pining for a surround-sound system is overkill. A solid 2.1 speaker package is the best way to listen to music directly from your PC.

Since when?? played any games recently??

Music. Not games. 2.1 is the best way to listen to music. Nobody wrote anything about what's best for gaming. Not everyone is a gamer :) If you're a gamer and want surround sound for PC audio, go for it!

What do games have to do with listening to music directly from a PC? Some users on here are delusioned that games are the be all and end all of computers, games are the only reason we use computers and people that don't spend 95% of their time on their computers gaming are losers.

I've got a surround system attached to my computer but I don't have the rear two speakers connected since it wouldn't fit well in the room. If I really want surround sound gaming then I'd rather plug in a pair of headphones and get a far more immersive sound anyway.

I don't play many games or movies on my PC -- which uses a Logitech 5.1 set -- just music. And speaking for myself, I believe that a well-done Dolby ProLogic II Music profile can really add a lot of depth and enjoyment to stereo. I also suspect that popular music might transition to six channels in the coming years as the industry tries to find new ways to add value and generate revenue. I agree, a good 2.1 set will meet most needs, but 5.1 still has a lot to offer, even for music.

Sarah is awesome - but my question is, when is Jane going to start getting in on some of this action?

The article was pretty useful (I'll likely buy 1 or 2 items from the list) and I thought the comments section was one of the best I've seen in a long time.

I never knew the editor at Tom's was so feisty! Rawr.
