Technics sa 500 fm not working

everything was working perfectly when i put it in the box 7 years ago. i set it up today and all functions work except on fm there is no signal , no sound, not evena buzz at full volume when set at mono, just dead.

Did you attach an FM antenna? Reposition it if you did.
Are you below ground level? That would get you almost no signal.
It is possible for a receiver to require service after long term storage.

Yes i am above ground level. The strange thing is that there is no signal (not even a hint) at all any where along the dial. It is like the whole FM system is not working. I thought there may be a fuse or something controlling that area but all fuses are ok. I have had this stereo since new , over 40 years, it went into the box working perfectly. Now I take it out and no signal or sound when dialed to FM. Am works,aux works. I have not tried the turntable. Any ideas what could cause this?
