[citation][nom]dochood[/nom]Yeah, they aren't wasting enough money on crap as it is... they need to shell out hundreds for "high tech" desks. Maybe they could spend that on teaching reading, writing, and science?[/citation]

These things can help teach those things, idiot, by allowing students to work AT THEIR OWN PACE instead of having to work at the speed of the slowest student in class.
In fact, that is why many children are doing 'badly' in school: either they are expected to slow down to accommodate the slowest person in class or speed up to the level of the median, when they just cannot do that.

[citation][nom]gemmakaru[/nom]That wouldn't have lasted five minutes at my school, the desks were pretty carved up with pen knives. That was in the 80s, maybe schools have model citizens as pupils now.[/citation]

Since they have banned pen knives and ANY kind of metal knives in school, that isn't really an issue anymore.
