the words on the menu on the TV is in red, what does this mean and how can i fix it?

I got a tv from a garage sale recently and i turn on the tv and its on R2 but it wont let me rescan the channels and when i press the menu on the tv itself it comes up and there is words in red writing (example: Auto) and when i try to move the highlighter or cursor over the word it skips to the green words. Why is this? What does it mean? can i fix it???

When you go to the manufacturers website and look under troubleshooting, what does it say?

On my TV, if the menu is in red all that means is that I changed the menu color to red.
