A. I don't have an xbox360, i play on my pc

B. i was thinking about getting a xbox360 just to play the exclusives (depends on if they release fable2 on pc or not)

If the new xbox shuts down like this i would probably get a jasper.

I was just thinking about the shooter games on xbox where the team play is important, would it just shutdown or can you tell your teammates first?

did somebody try to overheat jasper? i think the S model has a 45nm process and is a lot better than jasper's 65nm process build. plus, it's already said that the S has a proper placement of things that are prone to give you this kind of sh@$ compared to the older models. now if someone forces to overheat jasper just like what they did to S, think again Gamer-"girl".

Or
Instead of allowing the unit to generate lots of heat that requires cooling
Simply
Reduce the amount of heat generated in the first place
So much so that the PSU is 135w instead of over 200w
And
If some idiot blocks the vents whilst leaving the unit in direct sunlight or next to a radiator then thermal sensors and power management will shut the unit down until the unit cools - rather than simply allowing the unit to keep getting hotter and hotter until the solder melts and gives the unit all the functionality of a house plant.

All in all, a better solution by MS.

Yeah, when I buy a console I always want the choice between can't play and can't play. What?

Maybe instead of making it slimmer and encapsulating the same amount of heat in a smaller area, they should have made a console that actually works. What a piece of junk. I'll ask my 3 year old niece to build my next console before Microsoft's "engineers". Glad I have a PS3 so I don't have to deal with the 360 when I don't want to.

I'd rather have a console that actually works...but that apparently isn't an option with microsoft.

PS...in the pictures above, all the vents aren't covered. It appears to be in a very standard home setup situation.

Apparently Gamer-girl expects her money to buy her a working console. My PS3 in a very similar situation to the pictures has not once even hinted at overheating. My 360...well, its given me more than one scare, and they are infamous for overheating. When I give a company money for something I expect their product to work, and work as advertised. I've never seen an xbox commercial or advert that showed people getting cut out of their game for red-ringing, or red-dotting. Have you?

Maybe you should have read the previous articles about this unit describing the reduction in die-size, power consumption and PSU before posting ignorant, knee-jerk, scare-mongering comments.
