Yess nice prevent from overheating....

They could of put a few fans in for 2$ and it would of been ok....

another time microsucks put the suck in it's hardware.

I just love it when i play a game and a message vista like telling me it has to shut down becvause the xbox is crap...

the S must be for sh*t i guess...

r0x0r :

The red dot is because they put the HD-DVD's into the 360..."I can't let you do that Dave"

I thought they put a little Indian man in each X-box

The xbox 360 is a worth while console and always has been, peoples lack of respect for there equipment is how things break. I will admit there were some problems with some of the earlier xbox 360s but people act like if you bought one you might was well throw it in the trash. I still have a launch xbox I had a red ring 2 years ago sent it in to get fixed, for free mind you, and got it back in 10 days, still works fine. OMG THE XBOX IS SO BAD I had to wait 10 days out of the thousands ive had it. Oh my world is crashing down around me, Microsoft sucks I will vow to make them pay. Im not a fanboy I like the ps3 and the wii and the pc. They all have there strengths and faults, the XBOX's strength is that its the most popular but its also its fault becasue its more open to critisim just like the IPhone.

[citation][nom]Shez[/nom]I'm with kayvonjoon. Sure having a warning is nice, but wouldn't it make more sense to build a machine that can handle the temps it produces. Assuming that the picture above wasn't staged (which, it might have been), that scenario looks like a typical setup for a console ventilation-wise.Oh and does anyone else find humor that instead of RRoDs ppl will now have RDoDs? Atleast M$ could have made their fatal errors have dissimilar acronyms.[/citation]

This error should only occur under abnormal circumstances. It's not like it's going to be a run of the mill "Oh, where nearing the 30 minute gaming session mark, lets count down to the overheat warning." Just like if your thermostat in your car freezes up and blocks the radiator flow.

I believe the overheating "problem" won't happen usually. For this test, the ventilation holes were probably blocked, so that people could see the GREAT EYE.

I'm sure that putting a play station 3 inside of a very hot room, and then taping the ventilation slots shut would cause it to overheat as well.

Also, I know that the people who + stuff just because someone has "girl" in their user name will minus me.

never care about the 360 and this latest upgrade to their BS box
confirm that is well... BS.

sorry for the people who like the 360, but a console should never overheat this much and making the console shut itself down isn't exactly fixing the problem.

oh well, happy with my PS3 :)

That was my point exactly. I was commenting that the ventilation situation looks like the average setup in millions of homes. Soooooo if the picture above was the situation that caused the overheat it certainly shouldn't be an abnormal circumstance, otherwise every new XBox, setup anywhere short of an air-tunnel, will be overheating.

Its better then nothing I suppose. But I've always hated the idea of hardware not being abe to handle... well itself.

If its not designed to take its own heat under reasonable enviroments, then it shouldent have been released without a big friggin warning on the packaging. Nvidia cards come to mind.

Im not saying these things dont have a market, or they should be completly squelched. But considering its a main-stream casual gaming platform marketed to anyone and everyone, it should take care of itself better. The PC gaming market does this as well(Dell packs high heat cards in there cases with no airflow and usually less then good PSU).

I do not own an Xbox.

The picture likely was staged for experimentation purposes, and no computer device can withstand the heat it produces. That's *why* there are heat sinks and case fans. But there's always the possibility of someone blocking the ports. It's happened many times before. This is the first time I have seen a console be smart about temperature. This is a good thing by Microsoft.

[citation][nom]kelewan[/nom]I'm sure there will be custom made fan kits available very soon[/citation]

With the last 360, the aftermarket fans actually made the system more likely to overheat, than less likely. /shrug

[citation][nom]1pp1k10k4m1[/nom]Why not fix the root of the problem?!![/citation]

I've had my XBOX360 for over 2 years now without an issues. As long as the device is handled properly there is NO problem Not sure about the early versions but I can verify that the newer version works great.

Only the ones that used the USB ports as a power source. The heat generated by the power draw through the USB port actually caused the plastic to melt and fuse with the cooler. If you get one that plugs into the wall, it works fine. One of my friends uses it and says that it actually is extremely effective.

[citation][nom]irish_adam[/nom]considering that they have changed the chips inside i doubt that this will happen often, only a few idiots that keep theirs on a heater or block all the vents will have an issue.and tbh i'd rather get cut off once in a while and not have to replace my xbox[/citation]If this unit was made by Apple and not Microsoft I am sure you would be singing a different tune. It should NOT overheat, unless the above situation you described was what was causing it. If it ever overheats in a thermally sound state, there's a serious friggin problem.

[citation][nom]shanky887614[/nom]why not have warning's pop-up at certain temperaturesthink microsoftit is not hard to add it so that it warns you every 10 degries above a certain point say from 50 desgrese upto the tempertature that it shuts down (and just a little thing in one of the corners)[/citation]

Look, one warning should be sufficient for all users. If you cannot figure out what is causing the overheating then maybe you shouldn't own one.

Because, there are manny kids that play these things that wouldnt turn it off with simple temp warnings like your talking about.I think this is perfectly fine.Keep it basic for the manny people on these systems that are to basic to know any better.Im talking about the kids. Not all console players. So dont get insulted.

"wow its amazing how many stupid ass people come on this site."

Yes, and you are one of them.
