Hi,

Been a long time user of Outlook Express and since upgrading windows and moving to Gmail accounts have been using Thunderbird as I really like its ability to show multiple accounts on one page.

Just been reading in a Uk mag, Computer Active, that says I should be uninstalling Thunderbird as its one of several program , like Flash and Java, and that TBird is also insecure - news to me, but looking around seems a lot of AV suites stop it from being downloaded as ' unsafe' etc.

Have to assume their advice / info is good, but no mention of any other 'secure' email client that could be used in place of Tbird; any sugestions or am I stuck with gmail layout ?

Would MS Outlook work 'securely' with importing Gmail ?

Solution
Thunderbird as an application is not "unsecure". The default connection type may be, sort of.

Gmail wants you to use OAuth2 as the authentication protocol.
See these:

Regarding the application as "insecure, see this:
http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/viewAlert.x?alertId=37625
(fixed in subsequent updates to the application)

I've used both T-birb and Outlook with Gmail for years.
