Tivo Vacuuming!

Hello All:

Just thought I'd share a tip. The last time I was futzing around in the back
of my TV and equipment, I had noticed how hot the Tivo was. Lifted it up and
noticed a tremendous amount of dirt and dust had collected on all of the
vents. In fact any hole in the unit no matter how small was dust bunny
impacted.

Took the vacuum with hose and brush attachment and proceeded to vacuum out
all of the dust from said vents and fan on rear of unit. The difference in
how cool the air pushed out of the unit was after vacuuming was significant.

Keep you Tivo CLEAN! At least once a month.

When I upgraded my Tivo with a larger hard drive, I used the ol' air
compressor to blow the dust off of all the internal components. The vents
themselves hardly had any dust but inside the dust was everywhere.

Yeah, surprised me when I opened mine up a couple years back, after
upgrading and leaving it closed for a year or two. Mostly because it didn't
occur to me, since my PC doesn't get too bad, but what I realized was that
I'm in my PC case a hell of a lot more than my Tivo, and my PC doesn't
always run 24/7/365 - maybe for a few days or a week here and there, but not
nearly like the Tivo.
