Too slow with 7.0 software, can I go back?

Since my series 2 was upgraded to 7.1a-02-2-240 software, the user
interface has become intolerably slow. I've tried Tivo-to-Go and
found it useless for me. I want to go back to the previous, faster
version (Whatever that was..)

Has anyone made this request yet? (The Tivo customer serivce page
won't load tonight).

Will sell you a CD for $19.99 that will take you back to Version 4.

This can work, but it won't preserve recordings or any other settings.
The database format used by 7.x is different from that used by 4.x, so
the whole drive has to be wiped.

Yea, but won't Tivo do another online upgrade when your box reports back
that it has an old version?

There are hacks to stop that.

Good! I'll check them out.
