Toshib A100 display is split into 4 parts

hi there i have a toshiba a100 which works fine except for the display is divided into 4 equal and identical parts. is this a known fault. what should i replace. i have reinstalled the os. with a format. and no change. same display on an external monitor when attached. thanks for your time. jack

Try starting in Safe Mode -- press F8 key as Windows starts. Go Control Panel, Diisplay Properties -- see if you can fix the resolution in Safe Mode -- pay attention also to refresh rate.

i should have mentioned that it is a divided screen even in bios setup. thanks for your help. jack
