Was using it and made a sound like a fuse blowing and immediately stopped.
Now don't get a power light or any response at all.
Do they have a internal fuse?
Hi, yes your laptop have a fuse for the power to the CRT port and another fuse for the battery. But if you have no power at all, I don't think the fuses are the problem.
Thanks jarotech,
I haven't had any problems or hints of things about to go wrong.
It's about 3.5 years old, looks in perfect condition, has nearly always run on a stand with a fan in it.
Has never felt that it was getting hot.
After it stopped I stripped it down and blew out the cooling fan, a bit dirty but not bad.
I also looked for signs of failure on the motherboard and else where, but could not see anything that looked wrong.
Any other ideas?
Would a new motherboard fix it? Would it be worth fixing?
Jeff
Hi, you need to check first the adapter, if you could verify the voltage at the output, it's written on the adapter itself. You will eliminate the adapter if the voltage is good.

Can you verify the voltage on the capacitor C109. I'm not sure if I have the right schematic for your laptop, but it's suppose to be a 0.1uF/50V capacitor.
Edit: sorry I be back tomorrow, 10:45PM here and we will have some rain and snow in the night, busy to remove all that.

That's ok, we all have other things that we need to do, I am sure.
Sorry couldn't find c109. Went over both sides of the board with a magnifying glass but didn't find it printed on it anywhere.
I tried to find a schematic anywhere online but failed.
The part no. on the board is 130A2250207. There is the number 'V000198010' on it as well, if that's any help.
And as it's about 10:30 pm here now, It's time I went to bed as well. No rain but maybe a storm tomorrow and a forcast top temp of about 39deg C.
Hi, another place to look, do you have something on the pins 5,6,7,8 of the PQ1 or pins 1,2,3 of the PQ3, they are all connected together. You know you have to push the power button to simulate a boot.

Sorry jarotech, can't find PQ1 or PQ3. There are no pq's on the board, only q's. but couldn't find any labelled Q1 or Q3.
There is 4.8 volts at one of the power pass usb pins. No voltage at any of the power button connector pins. 19.3 volts at the power jack to motherboard connector. At a loss as to what to do/check next.
Ok, could you take a picture of your board, both sides.
I can't work out how to post a picture, new to this forum stuff.
I have located Q6001(all seem to be prefixed with 600), pins 1 2 3 & 4 are 19v, pins 5 6 7 & 8 are 5.5mV.
Q6003 pins 1 2 & 3 are 20.5mV. Voltages are the same with power button pushed or not.
The fuse there is ok, 19v both sides.
There is also 19v at C6002.
Hi Jeff, sorry for the delay, very busy. I found a schematic who could be for your laptop, but I have to pay to get it, no site give the schematic free. To view a picture, you have to upload on any site who will host a picture like this site : http/postimage.org/

Hi Jeff, it's very difficult to troubleshoot your laptop because I don't have the schematic for it. the picture I asked for was to determine the motherboard. I said before, maybe I found the right schematic but I have to paid to get it. For now I'm blind without the schematic or the motherboard to look at.

Ronald.
I'm having trouble getting any multimeter reading from the battery.
Question, will the laptop work without a battery installed?
If not, then maybe that is the problem.
What do you think?
I tried to find out online, but one says yes and the next says not.
Hi, yes a laptop will work without a battery, when you don't move your laptop you can remove the battery and use it like a desktop. Sorry if I'm not more helpful, but the indications on your motherboard is not the same for the schematic I have.
