toshiba c55t wont boot

having issue with an old friends pc. yes its toshiba c55t when i went to do a restore and mind you it was updated to win 10 yes but i could never get a boot again, had a tech guy tell me id need a new drive and also a new copy of win 10 B>S I FEEL,
Im kinda novice and old school, started on 95 stopped at win 7 not sure if i am totally like overthinking this or if infact one restore and i lost op sysyten to boot i just dont feel its the drive i feel they are totally lieing to me ive never lost a drive ever.
p.s. use to do my own sat cards im not a fool here but i fear perhaps the win 10 upgrade was somehow compromised, it worked she wanted it back to factory and whammo

You hopefully did not erase the factory restore partition when you upgraded so plug in the power supply and press and hold the 0 key while you turn it on until the Restore screen appears.
