I am trying to fix my Wife's Toshiba L875D-S7232 backlight issue. I seems fine during startup, then it looks like it goes into hibernation but backlight doesn't come back up until I partition recovered. Then it did the same thing again after all the updates. I have been using VGA external to see what is going on. I can shine a light on the screen to see the display otherwise.

I've tried the battery reset, RAM chip swap (moving chip1 to slots 1 & 2, then chip2 to slots 1 & 2), then I swapped out the monitor with backlight from a known good laptop of exact same size, but the issue remains. I have spent over 10 hours re-imaging, updating, and swapping parts. The only thing I haven't tried is a new cable. Could this be something else? I really don't want to have to tell her she'll just need to use an external monitor for it.

FYI - it also seems to have an issue with the keyboard. We are using a USB keyboard for now. Could this just be a motherboard issue or some strange Toshiba issue?

Best regards bbwolfie
