You could still be interested now even if you can't quite afford them. If it wasn't for companies driving innovation and publications like these driving interest, we could all still be using CRTs.

What "same price" please? Where did they mention the price? What if they cost 5000$+, are you still interested? Sigh...

During CEATEC 2010, Toshiba also plans to showcase a laptop prototype as a proof of concept with a 12-inch 3D display without glasses, and a 56-inch HDTV that uses the glasses-free 3D technology

OK, a big-ass TV that doesn't need glasses, available this year.
12 months from now they will be everywhere.

I really cant see what all the hype is about with this 3D TV. 3D cinema has been around for years. Plus you allready have the best 3D vision experience you could ever want. Forget wishing for 3DTV open your eyes and go out and look at the world, you can't get better 3D than your eyes.

just how wide of a viewing area, last i heard the horizontal axis was very limited... vertical didn't matter so much but to far to one side created a distorted image.

just curious how/if they worked around this

Everyone has to sit on each others' lap, stacked up like a totem pole so that you're all in the sweet spot together. Still better than $200 glasses and can lead to sex.

Where a hell you can get programming for that? All those 12 different frames? 3D has only 2 frames, so unless there is a good way to make 12 out of two, it will be useful only for games at home (which is still something).

And my guess is that 56-inch HDTV will have more, much more of this frames. Think about 32 frames.
