Can you help me to do the same thing ? I cant find the nec-tokin 0E907 (900uF/2.5V) in my country.

You can order OE907 online from the following or similar sellers:
http://www.wiisingonline.com/NEC-Tokin-0E907-OE907-Proadlizer-PF-A-Capacitors-High-Speed-Decoupling-Device-PFAF250E907MCBTE-p-4625-272.html

Then follow a procedure similar to what is shown here:
http://gs138.photobucket.com/groups/q251/S1BXDWUERU/

Also decide if you want OE907 or tantalum caps, which are apparently more reliable . Most importantly read all the relevant posts and links given above before jumping into it.

Actualy I'm a beginner in electonics, all what i want is to fix my laptop, the cost of ordering OE907 online + shipping fee = 50 $ ( expensive in my country )

Can you just write me the exact reference of tantalum caps, that i have to use ? and also where will i put it in the mother board.

Thank you.

I have repaired two Satellite A200 laptops.
I replaced the Proadlizer capacitor with eight of GRM31CR60J107ME39L 100UF 6.3V ceramic capacitors.
I purchased them from X-On.

Hi
I know that is happend loong time ago but now my a200 is having the same problem like you had with yours, i'm thinking to use that thermal paste but i was wondering if you found out what was your problem with your laptop. i've reinstalled w7,xp,vista managed to update bios only with vista (original OS provided with the laptop). I've tried everything and now i've changed in bios from "dynamyc cpu" to "always low" and is kinda working but slow. Please help.thank you

Thanks to all. My A200 would start up but often switch off before getting into Windows. I replaced the NEC TOKIN OE128 with 4 Kemet 2.5v 470UF from RS Components Au stock Number 147651. Getting the old NEC TOKIN off was the tricky part. In the end I just used brute force to mangle it and pealed the remains. Tin the circuit board and caps before soldering. Working fine now after several hours.

As mentioned earlier, I had replaced OE128 with a new OE128 in my A200 which worked perfectly for 7 months and has just started the restart problem again. Actually I was not expecting it to last that long anyway and had already kept tantalum caps ready. However the tantalum caps that I have (RS Stock No. 548-3337) are of a significantly higher ESR than OE128 and hence may not work, in which case I will go for 147-639 or 147-651 . What I had done earlier is shown here:

Yes A200 here as well which has been shutting down at random .... after many thoughts finally gave in and bought new battery £13.99 on Ebay ...seemed worth a try. So far seem to be stable and have powered down the battery to zero several times to get the battery fully loaded and hoping that might have some effect on battery uptime as well. Good Luck ....

not hopeful this is the end and have an Equium with a flickering screen problem as well ... been in twice to get fix.... never lasts for more than 3 months ... don't even want to think about that one.

You are an idiot and you make Canadians look like morons! Explain how it's an over heating issue, if;
A) Works fine in safe mode, no over heart WHAT SO EVER> Even though Safe Mode loads minimal drivers, based on what you said, it should still over heat.
B) Doesn't crash once during fresh install of Win 7, only after all drivers are loaded did it crash again.

Give your head shake "Computer Engineer" Ha ha ha! I do tech support for a living and I get the "IT" guys or "Computer Engineers" all the time, and they are the worst ones. Think they know it all but don't have the slightest clue. YOU sir, are one of those.

I also have a similar problem with one of these A200 laptop failures.
Congratulations Toshiba, biggest piece of crap I have ever seen.

Mine is slightly different fault. I can charge the battery to full power, laptop will not turn on during this phase. After charge I remove the power supply and the laptop runs quite normal on battery for a couple of hours till the battery goes flat.
I then have to do a recharge again. If I plug the power unit in whilst the laptop is running it stops completely, instantly, switches off, only lights are the power light and orange battery charge light.
This switch off is instant. I cannot start the laptop using the power supply at all. A couple of lights flash and that's all. If I unplug the power supply I can start OK.
I cannot start it with the power supply with the battery removed. I doubt it is due in any way to software.
I think my problem is related to the power socket. I have pulled it to bits and noticed the power socket has four wires coming from it to the motherboard. The power supply has a two wire plug. What is it with the four wires in the laptop.
I think it is some sort of switch over system within the socket that somehow stops power from the battery and connects the power supply to the motherboard whilst letting the power supply high voltage go direct to the battery charging system. I wish I could get a circuit of the laptop and then I could figure it out.

My history,
40 years in electronics from broadcasting to microwave to optic fibre then changing over to computer building and repair including most laptops. I update apple laptops, never had to repair one so far in the last 15 years or so of computer repairs.
Need I say I use apple and have done for several years.
Once you move from the dark side you will never go back.

Hey guys

I also have a detective a200. My request is would someone please post fresh links to photos of the replacement job as the photobucket links appear to be dead (or is it just my phone browser not being able to open them?). I am specifically looking for the tantalium cap replacement pics. Thanks in advance for any post and to all the info from the previous posters. Also any inside info of where is best to buy the cap in Britain would be appreciated.

I had checked the link several weeks ago when it was showing pics but not the text but when I clicked today it showed everything. Try your comp if phone does not work. My RS Stock No. 737-2832 has been working great.

You can try this seller: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/

I have a friend who asked me to look at their a205 and I think this cap is the cause of the issues. I am in the US and looking for a supplier. I found this at mouser:

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Kemet/T520V477M2R5ATE009/?qs=%2fha2pyFaduivgpGE%252bjZ5ZFxKn1nmwoR7frkiN5VZIOmIlfuadYdO2Q%3d%3d

and this at digikey:

http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/T530D477M2R5ATE006/399-4127-2-ND/818988

I think i will go with digikey as I used to use them all the time years ago and the price is cheaper.

It seems to be the same specs and package size to me but my hardware days are pretty far behind me (I am a programmer now) so I just wanted to confirm. I have already taken the machine apart and can confirm the prodalizer is in there and its a oe128.

thanks for your time and all the research and posts so the rest of us didnt have to.

The height should not be more than 2mm. Try the following:

Hi guys!
please help me to solve my laptop problem..
I am using toshiba satellite M500. when I freshly start my laptop it shut down it self few times (3-4 times) then it is working fine for 20-30 min then again shutdown down it self (same problem every 30-40 min). When i use my laptop i always use the battery and power supply.
someone told me this may be because of the missing windows files, so i format my computer and reinstall windows 7 but still i am having this problem.
when it is workings in safe mode there is no such problems.
when my laptop shut down there were no error message or no blue screen. some times after sudden shutdown it turn on it self....oh again same proble. please help me guys to fix.
thanks!

Seems like a Proadlizer problem but not very sure if your model has one. If it has a Proadlizer then replacing it might help. Google search does suggest that some M500 models do have Proadlizer (but you may have to open yours and check to make sure):
