Downgraded Toshiba Satellite C850D laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 7 x64.

I am missing the following USB Drivers:

holQGC3.png

The drivers cannot be found on the Toshiba support website. I confirmed this with a Toshiba tech support agent over the phone. It makes zero sense to me that the manufacturer of this laptop does not have and cannot provide me with necessary drivers. Especially drivers that provide basic functionality.

Anyway. Windows Update cannot find the drivers either. I need to know where I can find the damn drivers, this should be a simple fix, but has become a nightmare.

Thanks for your help

Eric

Hello Meek,

You didn't do manual search in Toshiba? :p

USB Driver:
http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/usb-20130917144117.zip

I'm not sure with the SM Bus controller, both Intel and AMD has it. To make sure of this, can you please provide a screenshot of each devices' Hardware IDs?

- Open Device Manager
- Expand 'Other Devices' Category
- Right click each devices in this category, on popup menu select Properties
- On popup window, click the Details Tab
- On Details Tab, click the dropdown box, select Hardware ID and provide a screenshot.

The USB 2.0 CDRW is a USB Device, am I right?

This was a Catalyst installer.. that's for ATI graphics card, right? Pretty sure I already installed it before. Went ahead and installed it anyway. Did not solve problem.

The USB 2.0 CDRW is a USB Device, am I right?

It's the USB ports.. not a device. I do not have anything connected into the USB ports and those are still showing as "Other Devices"

That was in the list I got looking up the serial number.

Can you go into System Properties, and post what's listed there? (go to Computer in explorer, click System Properties on top). Post the model of processor that is listed

Hello Meek,

You need the Drivers for those which can be found in the Display Driver but you need to manually update them. Download these HP drivers but do not install them, we'll manually update them:
Note: Create a folder in the Local Drive C: and rename it to UPDATE (C:\UPDATE) and save the HP drivers inside it so that it won't be a hassle for us.

SM Bus Controller:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63993.exe

Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63994.exe

Next, use a file extractor (WinZip, WinRar, 7-zip, etc.) to unpack/extract/unzip the drivers. In short, turn them into folders.

Here's the manual update part. After extracting the 2 drivers, follow these instructions.

For SM Bus Controller (sp63993.exe)
- Open Device Manager
- Expand Other Devices category
- Select SM Bus Controller, right-click (popup menu open)
- Select Update Driver Software... (popup window open)
- Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
- Check "Include subfolders" checkbox, click Browse (popup window open)
- Locate "\C:\UPDATE\sp63993\Deployment\" folder, click Ok
- Click Next (wait for installation to be finish)
- Click Finish.

For Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller (sp63994.exe)
- Open Device Manager
- Expand Other Devices category
- Select Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller, right-click (popup menu open)
- Select Update Driver Software... (popup window open)
- Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
- Check "Include subfolders" checkbox, click Browse (popup window open)
- Locate "\C:\UPDATE\sp63994\Deployment\" folder, click Ok
- Click Next (wait for installation to be finish)
- Click Finish.

For the USB2.0-CRW, what USB Device did you plug in the PC? I need to know so that we can locate the driver for it.
