Hi everyone,

I've got a Toshiba u50t laptop which is turning off after 3 seconds and I can't figure put what the problem would be.

When I'm turning it works just fine (screen works, keyboard works, fan works but only for 3-4 seconds) then it shuts down completely.

I read some comments about a similar issue which the cause was the missing or old cpu paste causing the cpu temerature sensor to shut the whole thong down.

I changed the cpu paste, dissasembled all the parts from the motherboard and still the same.

The only thing I have in mind is the BIOS.

I wanted to reset the bios by removing the battery but its soldered to the motherboard.

Maybe the BIOS chip would be the problem?

I managed to enter in the bios, does that means that the bios is ok or could be corrupted?

Has anyone dealt with this problem?

Many thanks!

That would be hardware... like I said. But if he can't remain up for more then 3 seconds there is no way for us to test it. Hence the recommendation to see a professional and get hardware testing.

Trying to sound like a hardware related issue.

I wonder if the senor you mentioned above just went bad. I've heard of that happening before in older laptops and even through there wasn't an issue, the senor would flip out and shut down the PC due to a senor corruption.

Honestly. it is a pain and differs between laptops.

You may want to actually bring it into a professional to test that stuff. It would be hard to explain it over the web and you need proper testing tools.

No he cant. It shuts off after 3 seconds. No matter where he is in the system.

When its happening even at the BIOS level. There is a bigger root cause to the issue. Such as a hardware related issue or senor like I stated earlier.

It could be the memory, CPU, or hard drive that's not at a functional level, and makes the computer shut down. It should be taken to a specialist like andro said earlier for examination, and hopefully they can come up with the solution.
