Toshiba wont boot "black screen"

Hello im new in here...

well i got this Toshiba Satteilte L650D

the other day when i should lower the volume by pressing FN/3, i unfortunately hit FN/F3 or F4 (im not sure wich one of them)

my comp went out, and i couldnt start it up again.

when i hit power button the lights are on at: power,battery, wifi

the cd/dvd starts spinning, and the fan starts up, but the is screen is black and there isnt light in hdd indecator

and i can only force it to start up if i unplug usb devise, power cord, and repeatedly turns it on/off to the screen/hdd starts up (and sometimes it takes 30min)

i have tried all that with batt of, hold power button and so on

Try pressing, and holding, the laptops power button for 5 seconds or more. On a laptop that is set to" Instant Standby" or "Hibernate" with a press of the power button, holding down the power button will usually reset and reboot it. I suggest this, because the key combination you describe as hitting would more than likely have put the laptop in wither "Instant Standby" or "Hibernate" mode.

Here is a list of general Toshiba Fn + F(#) keys features.

1. Pressing "Fn-Esc" will mute or unmute your computer's speakers.

2. Pressing "Fn-F1" will lock your laptop. NOTE: When you lock your laptop, you will need to enter your password to unlock it.

3. Pressing "Fn-F2" will display all the power saving options available for your laptop.

4. Pressing "Fn-F3" will activate the Instant Standby mode. This mode will power down your computer, except for the memory, allowing you to quickly turn on the computer the next time you need it. Instant Standby will allow your computer to stay on for up to, approximately, 30 hours.

5. Pressing "Fn-F4" will activate your laptops Hibernation mode. This is similar to Instant Standby, except that the power can last for up to 26 days and takes longer to power up the computer.

6. Pressing "Fn-F5" will run through your display options.

7. Pressing "Fn-F6" will decrease the brightness of your monitor. So each time you press this combo, your monitors brightness will lessen.

8. Pressing "Fn-F7" will increase the brightness of your monitor. So each time you press this particular combo, the monitors brightness will then increase.

9. Pressing "Fn-F8" will change your computer's wireless connection. It will take it from Wi-Fi to Bluetooth, and back again.

10. Pressing "Fn-F9" will disable your mouse touchpad. Pressing this combo again will then re-enable the mouse touchpad.

11. Pressing "Fn-F10" will disable your arrow pad. And pressing that combo again will allow the arrow pad to work.

12. Pressing "Fn-F11" together will disable your mouse number pad. Then pressing that combo again will allow the mouse number pad to work.

13. Pressing "Fn-F12" together will zoom in your screen. Then pressing that combo again will zoom out.

14. Pressing "Fn-Spacebar" will change the resolution of your monitor. Each time you press that combo, the resolution will change to the next option.

it dosnt help or fix it, by holding the power button for 5sek or more.... it still wont start up,

OK so you are getting power, but not all is turning on. While I know you said you hit those buttons and the problem started, but if only specific things are not loading it make me curious it if is somehow stuck in hibernate or sleep. As that is what it sounds like.

Try the following and see if it will start up correctly. Normally I would suggest this for power issues, but with the way yours is acting, you may want to make sure all possible power is removed from the device before proceeding. This should remove any hibernation or sleep from the laptop.

1. Unplug your charger cord.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press and hold the "Power" button for 30 seconds and see if the device will turn on.
4. If it does, great, now plug back in the power/charger cord. (If it didn't turn on without the cord in, it should turn on once you it is in. Yes sometimes they will turn on, or try to turn on, even with nothing attached/plugged in.)
5. Now put the battery back in.

If it still isn't starting up, you may want to try plugging in an external monitor while the laptop is off, then turn on the monitor and finally the laptop. See if it will show you the screen/start up sequence (as you said the attached monitor shows nothing).

You may also want to check your internal connections to make sure nothing is loose or disconnected.
