Travelmate 4220 bios password removal

I am trying to help a friend who purchased a used laptop and upgrade the operating system but there is a password on the bios. Any suggestion to remove the password so I can change the boot process off the cd/dvd. If you are concerned about legit purchase I can provide proof.
