Trouble Installing iTunes 64 bit on Windows 7

Hello, I have Windows 7 Home 64 bit on my Acer Aspire 7745-7949. I just recently purchased a new 4th gen iPod touch. I am trying to install iTunes and it gets through most of the installation and then towards the end it comes up with an error that says "An error occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft.VC80.CRT ,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.4053" ,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture= "amd64". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8007054F." I can't get past this error. I can successfully install the 32 bit version but that version does not recognize my 4th gen ipod touch so I can't use it. Anyone know how to install this program before I pull my hair out???

I tried the steps to the letter in that link and it still gives me the same error and then it ends up installing the 32-bit version of the program which is not compatible with my ipod touch 4th gen.

The 32 bit version should detect any of the Apple products same as the 64 bit one. Are you sure you have 64 bit Windows? Have you checked with Apple support forums?

I do have 64bit windows7 and I also checked on apple's site and the 32 bit version will not recognize the new ipod touch 4th gen, it recognizes all previous versions.

That is a bit odd, my daughter has 32 bit Windows 7 on her laptop, and the new iPod Touch, and can sync fine.

Yeah, everytime I try to connect my ipod to the computer when I have itunes open, an error pops up saying that it cannot connect to this 32 bit program and I need to uninstall it and install the 64bit version instead.
