I have a 1996 - to 2000 pioneer reciever and trying to hook up only red and white cords to a lcd insignia tv it says in the manual I need a spdif cable. Can it work with the red and white cords only
TV has optical digital audio output. Receiver has analog audio inputs. He need a digital to analog converter as suggested by alexoiu. Make sure that you can set the TV to output in PCM stereo. Otherwise you will need a DAC that works with a 5.1 bitstream input. The TV owners manual will tell you how to turn on and use the optical out.
